The Spring Fling 2015 Boutique is in the books. We would like to extend a warm “Thank You” to Brenda Mossa Events! There was A LOT of traffic through the boutique and many unique crafters. We met many wonderful people and had a fun day. We hope we made many new friends and look forward to future events.

In January 2015, we picked up a truck load of old growth redwood stump burls and California bay laurel burls (also known as myrtle wood or pepperwood). Over the course of several weeks, we managed to cut the burls to manageable turning sizes, and rough turn some of the larger blanks. Terry has become adept with the coring tools, and roughed out several spectacular nesting bowls. They were coated and put under for storage.
We were fortunate to meet Joanne in Auburn who graciously opened her olive orchard to local wood clubs. We were able to collect a pickup load of olive wood from Joanne’s orchard. Over the course of several days, we processed the wood, cutting small slabs, cants, and blanks from the trunks. Some of the wood was “green” turned and sealed to dry. Most of the wood was sealed at the time it was cut to length, then placed in storage to dry.
